Roads in Lake County

Question from Bill in Minneola:

Our roads don’t seem to have caught up with the growth in Lake County. What can be done about this?

Sean’s reply:

Hi Bill. We must utilize reserves and extra revenues from the recently renewed penny sales tax to fund new road projects in Lake County. Additionally, we must continue to utilize impact fees (charged to new construction only) to fund road projects in high growth areas like south Lake County, east Lake County, and Lady Lake. Perhaps most importantly, the Cities and County must work together to ensure road and sidewalk plans are in place before any new development is constructed. Please read the article below to learn more about a partnership with the City of Minneola that I was proud to support. At the time, I was told my support for this project and funding with impact fees was political suicide. But I saw the need to make a decision for the long-term instead of political expediency and support Minneola on this project.
